Race Rules
1) Riders must have a properly fitted bicycle helmet when on their bikes.
2) The bicycle must be in good condition and its use must not endanger the cyclist or other competitors.
3) Please share the trail. If someone asks to pass let them do so when it is safe.
4) Please call out when you are passing someone (e.g. passing on your left/right). Pass only when it is safe to do so. Be courteous!
5) Each rider should attempt one lap of the course during the race. However, if time doesn't allow you will not be penalized.
6) Only complete laps will count towards your lap count (this includes walked laps as long as the course was followed)
7) If a rider has a mechanical and cannot or does not want to walk the rest of the lap, they can take a shortcut off the course, but the unfinished lap will not count. Course marshals may be requested to radio the transition area to report that the rider is unable to complete their lap. Transition volunteers will then record the team number on a white board at the transition area, indicating that the team should not wait for their rider to return before sending out a new rider. Transition volunteers will not be able to contact individual teams, so it is each team's responsibility to watch the message board.
8) Please follow all course markings. No shortcuts are permitted (except as above). Anyone who cuts the course is lame and will be disqualified.
9) Sault Search and Rescue and course marshals will be located at various stations on the course to assist with anyone needing medical assistance.
10) Please yield the trail to any ATVs, since these are used by Sault Search and Rescue.
11) If you notice an area where the course tape has been knocked down please inform the closest volunteer so it can be fixed (or fix it yourself).
12) Other riders can, and are encouraged to, help each other with mechanical issues when on the course.
13) Dismount from your bike before the start of the transition area. Do not get on your bike until you are through the transition area.
14) It is each rider's responsibility to make sure their lap was counted when they pass through the timekeeper's tent. This may include stopping to ensure our timekeeper volunteers get your team #.
15) The trail is open to other users so please be aware of hikers, spectators and possibly other bikers who aren't participating in the event.
16) Riders walking their bicycle must yield to persons riding.
And last of all PLEASE HAVE FUN!!
